By participating in the MunichTech EXPO Hackathon, all participants agree to comply with the following rules and conditions.
1. Eligibility

The hackathon is open to individuals aged 18 years or older.

Participants may take part as individuals or in teams.

Teams may consist of members from different organizations, universities, or countries.

Organizers, judges, mentors, and sponsors may not compete.

Teams can be formed before or during the hackathon.

Each team must submit one project only.
-
Participants may only be part of one team.
3. Original Work

All submitted work must be created during the hackathon period.

Use of open-source libraries, APIs, frameworks, and publicly available datasets is allowed, provided they are properly disclosed.

Pre-existing code or projects must be clearly identified and may only be used as a foundation, not as a complete solution.
4. Intellectual Property

Participants retain full ownership of their projects and intellectual property.

By submitting a project, participants grant the organizers a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to:

Display the project during MunichTech EXPO
-
Use project names, descriptions, and demo materials for promotional and reporting purposes

No transfer of IP ownership is required to participate.
5. Submission Requirements

All submissions must be completed via the official submission platform (e.g. Devpost) before the stated deadline.

Late or incomplete submissions may be disqualified at the organizers’ discretion.

Each submission must follow the published submission requirements.
6. Judging

Projects will be evaluated by a jury appointed by the organizers.

Judging criteria may include:

Technical quality

Innovation and originality
-
Practical relevance and impact

Alignment with hackathon themes

Quality of the demo and explanation

Judges’ decisions are final and binding.
7. Prizes

Prizes (if applicable) are non-transferable.

Organizers reserve the right to substitute prizes of equal value if necessary.

No cash equivalent is guaranteed unless explicitly stated.
8. Code of Conduct
All participants must adhere to the Hackathon Code of Conduct, which applies throughout the entire event (including online channels, workshops, and networking activities).
Harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate behavior of any kind will not be tolerated.
Organizers reserve the right to remove participants who violate the Code of Conduct without refund or compensation.
9. Use of Data and AI

Participants are responsible for ensuring that any data used complies with applicable laws and regulations, including GDPR.

AI systems must be used responsibly. Projects that promote harmful, discriminatory, or unethical use of technology may be disqualified.
10. Liability

Participation is at the participant’s own risk.

The organizers are not responsible for loss, damage, or injury to persons or property during the event.

Participants are responsible for their own equipment and data.
11. Changes and Cancellation

The organizers reserve the right to modify the rules, schedule, or format of the hackathon if necessary.

Any changes will be communicated to participants promptly.
